William Hill Sponsor Supreme Novices Hurdle

Leading bookmakers William Hill were today unveiled as the new sponsors of the williamhill.com Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – the famous curtain raiser at The Festival on Tuesday, March 10. The Grade One contest showcases the best of the season’s two-mile novice hurdlers, and provides the first round in the renowned but friendly British/Irish rivalry on the track and in the betting ring.

Sponsorship of the williamhill.com Supreme Novices Hurdle provides the popular bookmakers with a second race on the opening day, in a deal which couples the Grade One race with the longstanding sponsorship of the William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase.

Famous horses such as the legendary Flyingbolt and Golden Cygnet have won the williamhill.com Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and more recently Champion Hurdlers Hors La Loi III and Brave Inca have used the race as a springboard to future glory. This year’s Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle favourite Binocular finished second in 2008.

Chief Executive of William Hill, Mr Ralph Topping, said: "We are delighted to be backing the williamhill.com Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. It has long been one of my favourite races of the season and is steeped in history. The roar of the crowd when the tapes go up sums up the excitement that this business is all about. This sponsorship further confirms William Hill’s commitment to racing, in addition to providing support to a celebrated race that is valued by punters and racing fans alike."

Cheltenham’s Director of Sponsorship, Mr Peter McNeile, added: "We are grateful for William Hill’s sponsorship of this iconic race, which is a contest that all Jump racing fans look forward to for 361 days! I’m delighted that a long established Festival sponsor has extended its support for The Festival’s opening day."

William Hill Vegas Casino player bags 75k

On an off the cuff flutter by Neil Foot an online casino player last week won £75,000 on the William Hill Vegas site. He started off spending only £1 on the ‘Goldrush Showdown’ winning the money in a progressive jackpot. He amazingly had won £600 on the same game only just before Christmas.

The 23 year old financial analyst, first opened his William Hill online account just so he could bet on Football but on a whim decided to have a flutter on a few casino and skill games. He’s intending to spend his winnings wisely, putting a deposit down on a new house. But as well as this he’s booking a luxury holiday for his girlfriend and some friends and has applied for a ticket ballot for the next Man Utd and Liverpool game.

He said, “My win is really down to my girlfriend Ellie. She is always moaning at me for being online or looking up the footie odds. It was only because we weren’t able to meet up that day that I was playing on my computer and look what happened! We’re now planning a lovely holiday and she won’t be able to moan at me for a while now” Spokesperson for William Hill Lili Huang said, “IT seems that Goldrush Showdown likes Neil as much as he likes the game.” William Hill Vegas has so far paid out more than £2 million in jackpots.
