The EU take on the US
According to a UK news paper the European Union may be preparing to mount a challenge to the USA's restrictive laws on online gaming, specifically the new UIGEA law.
The EU's Internal Market Commissioner a Mr. Charlie McCreevy issued a statement to the European Parliament saying "In order to protect, I'd say, their own business, their industry there, they have de facto prevented foreigners from online betting into the United States. In my view it is probably a restrictive practice and we might take it up in another forum."
This news statement had an immediate effect on the online gaming industry, with the value of shares in online gaming firms rising.
