Tessa Jowell the UKs culture secretary has slammed the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which wiped off more than GBP5 billion from the share prices off internet betting companies listed on the london stock exchange, Mrs Jowell went onto say that the ban is a modern day form of prohibition.
She also expressed her concern that this law could also lead to new forms exploitation and fraud, sending the gambling industry underground, the culture secretary again reiterated that the UK has proven that legalisation and control of the online gambling works.
Tessa Jowell will be hosting a summit on online gambling next week with over 30 politicians from round the world discussing how to achieve uniform international gaming regulations.
