UK Super Casino talks start
In recent month the Millennium Dome application has been mired in controversy after Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott was found to have stayed at the home of AEG's owner Mr Philip Anschutz, Mr Prescott has repeatedly insisted that he has not been involved in the casino application process and that AEG has received no preferential treatment.
There were further controversy about the AEG bid this month, when it emerged that the company had already begun to build the shell of its proposed casino at the Millennium Dome without a licence to operate it.
The chair of the Casino Advisory Panel a Professor Stephen Crow, said that he already knew of the work and that it would be taken into consideration at the selection stage.
A shortlist of bidders for a super casino was announced in back in May, these are Blackpool, Wembley, Cardiff, Glasgow, the Millennium Dome, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sheffield.
But a local servey by Brent Council showed that 67% were opposed to the constuction of a super casino in there area, So they withdrew the Wembley application.
They can be only one UK super casino, this is what is permitted under the terms of the Gambling Act 2005, Further Super Casino hearings will be held around the country this week and next to study proposals for a super casino in Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester and Blackpool.
