Warnings on UK Gambling
The BBC Panorama progam has thrown up serious questions about the UKs government proposals to regulate online gambling as the program suggests that a possible one million people a year could become addicted to gambling.
An addiction expert called Professor Jim Orford from the UK slammed the government for being ‘naive’ and ‘playing dice’ with people’s health by liberalising UK gambling laws, recent research from the UK Gambling Commission showing that Britain has around one million regular online gamblers.
Panorama also revealed figures from Nielsen/Net Ratings a internet media and market research company, show an average of 5.8 million people a month visiting online casino and gaming sites from April to September 2006.
