Casino Adverts on UK TV
The UK gaming commission is to assess public opinion on relaxing a 40 year rule that stops Casinos, bingo halls and most other betting and gambling products from advertising on UK TV and radio, with the exception of the national lottery.
A new code has been drawn up by the Advertising Standards Agency and the Gambling Commission, which would see the 40 year old rules relaxed to allow some adverts, this would be subject to very stringent rules about realism and social responsibility.
The new code will now be put to the British public opinion and there input about the proposed changes, but it is expected to take effect by September 2007, when the Gambling Act 2005 comes into effect.
